Tatiana Fusari, 29 Seth Welch is on trial in Kent County Circuit Court in death of 10-month-old daughter, Mary.

Her father, Seth Welch, 28, was convicted in a jury trial of felony murder and first-degree child abuse. He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. Both were in Kent County Circuit Court on Thursday, March 5, for a review hearing. A trial to terminate their parental rights was set for March 31, five days after both are scheduled for sentencing. Caseworker Elisabeth Mulholland said that the two older children are together with grandparents while the youngest has separate placement. A therapist recommended that contact between the youngest and older two be suspended, court records showed. Kent County Circuit Judge Joseph Rossi agreed with keeping the younger child apart from older siblings for the time being but said that would eventually have to change. He didnt want them to grow up and find out that a secret sibling had been kept from them. Fusari smiled, particularly when testimony focused on her youngest child. Her husband spoke quietly to his attorney. The parents were also concerned if the children were able to celebrate birthdays. The mother has been writing letters to the children. The letters have to be approved by authorities before being provided to the children.
